Abstract (en)
Catalogue of an exhibition of over 237 mannequins in costumes dating from 1945-1946, originally designed for the 1946 Paris fashion exhibition Théâtre de la Mode, conceived as a celebration of French couture. All extant models and costumes now belong to the Maryhill Museum of Art, Goldendale. Essays outline the genesis of the 1946 exhibition, and discuss the contributions of set and clothing designers. Includes a fully illustrated catalogue of costumes shown, as well as biographies of the Paris exhibition's creators.
