Abstract (en)
Notes that around 1900, cultural critics and producers seeking to reestablish a harmoniously unified society had recourse to German Neo-classical culture as a model; finds this exemplified in Paul Mebes's Um 1800 (subtitle: "Architecture and crafts in the last century of their traditional development") and examines the architecture of Behrens, Tessenow, Loos, and Mies in this light.
