Describes a stone effigy of a knight, reputedly a member of the Mallet family from the time of Henry II (Shepton Mallet, SS. Peter and Paul). Draws attention to the naked sword with point upwards depicted at his right side. This is said, according to the rules of heraldry, to mean the knight died in battle and was of the victorious party.
