Abstract (en)
Reports on excavations carried out during construction of an underground car park on this site which lies at the northern end of the Palace of Westminster (corner of Bridge and S. Margaret Streets). The Yard was first laid out ca.1287-1308. Summarizes topographical data and archaeological finds which date from pre-history through the early 19th c. Of particular significance was part of the foundation of the Great Conduit, an elaborate fountain with a timber superstructure built 1441-1444 (demolished 17th c.). Within its rubble core were 52 carved fragments of a 12th c. fountain.
