Argues that any large Medieval furnace used for iron production was not necessarily a blast furnace, and that the so-called early blast furnaces at Harhyttan and Lapphyttan (Sweden) were actually high bloomeries. Dates the advent of the modern blast furnace in Sweden to 1550-1579.
