Reviews previous attributions of majolica from the Orsini-Colonna series of apothecary jars to Orazio Pompei of Castelli. Revives an old hypothesis that the earliest examples may have come from Deruta. Attributes several pieces (in various museums) to the master of an early 16th c. majolica pavement in S. Francesco, Deruta. Also identifies specific engravings of Lucas Cranach the elder as the iconographic sources of some of the decorations.
