Abstract (en)
Evidence for a substantial building, probably the stables, was found within the precinct of the abbey. Two building phases were identified, dated by pottery evidence to the late 12th or first half of the 13th c., and a post-Dissolution date of the 15th or 16th c. suggested by the incorporation of ornamental stonework (mainly 14th c.) presumably derived from the abbey church, and fragment of deliberately cut ivory religious icon, ca.14th c.
