The reviewer appreciates the approach and breadth of this study of the production of Roman Baroque sculpture, which covers the processes of education, marble-quarrying, and the casting and chasing of bronze, as well as workshop and inter-craft practices, and ephemeral material--theatrical machinery and festival apparatuses--created for particular occasions.
