Explains the imagery of the third panel of Botticelli's four-part series representing the Story of Nastagio degli Onesti, 1482-83 (Madrid, Prado), which depicts an outdoor dinner scene from a novella from Boccaccio's Decameron. From internal and archival evidence, suggests that the work was commissioned on the occasion of the marriage of Giannozzo Pucci and Lucrezia Bini in 1483.
