Examines the surviving sculptural elements, ca.1130-40, from the Lazarus Portal (north) and the Last Judgment Portal (west) of S. Lazare. Argues that the iconographic components reflect a coherent overall program whose primary themes are resurrection, judgment, mercy and salvation. Places the program in the context of the liturgy and mission of the cathedral, and of 12th c. theology and eschatology.
