Abstract (en)

On a copper plate recording 428 hallmarks, city marks, and makers' marks for gold- and silversmiths active in Munich, 1650-1868 (Munich, Stadtmuseum). The plate primarily offers a record of marks used by the "Zeichenmeister" (assayers) but also includes those of some of the leading makers. Appendix contains a catalogue of all the marks, a chronological list of the assayers' marks, and an alphabetical list of makers' names.
