Abstract (en)

Explores Le Corbusier's observations on the architecture and urban layout of Munich, in both drawing and commentary, during a visit from April to October 1910. Focuses on his interest in shops and show-windows, the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, traditional architecture and urban layout, especially in the area of Odeonsplatz, and the architecture of Theodor Fischer and German Bestelmeyer. Discusses the influence of Camillo Sitte's Der Städtebau nach seinen künstlerischen Grundsätzen (1889) on Le Corbusier's thinking at this time.
