Abstract (en)
Demonstrates that four illuminated pages in the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Cologne, originally belonged to a manuscript now in the Württembergische Landesbibliothek, Stuttgart (MS Poet. et phil. 2[ 2), an allegorical poem on the social classes using the metaphor of chess, written by Konrad von Ammenhausen. Supports the argument that the manuscript was produced in the Haguenau workshop of Diebold Lauber, possibly by Hans Schilling, in 1467. Determines the placement of the Cologne illuminations within the Stuttgart manuscript, and discusses the provenance of the manuscript and the probable circumstances of its dismemberment in the 18th c.
