Abstract
(en)
Catalogues 25 pieces of Medieval German jewelry found in a house in Mainz in 1880, now in the Kunstgewerbemuseum, Berlin. On the basis of comparison with Medieval depictions of jewelry and goldsmithing, argues that the pieces were made in the second third of the 11th c. and belonged to Empress Agnes von Poitou, wife of Heinrich III. Reports on the history of the find, and discusses the types of jewelry represented, including rings, earrings, necklaces, fibulas and pins.
