Comments on three new museums of contemporary art in Germany: Museum für Moderne Kunst, Frankfurt (in a new building designed by Hans Hollein); Neues Museum Weserburg, Bremen; Ludwig Forum, Aachen. Discusses the special character of each museum in terms of architecture, curatorial viewpoint, and role of the private collector, and highlights the challenges faced by each.
