Describes the system of photographic "pools" established by the United States Department of Defense during the Gulf War to control the movements of war photographers and, consequently, to censor the war images distributed for publication. Relates an interview with American photographer David Turnley, and agrees with him that this type of regulation is detrimental to truthful war reporting.
