Abstract (en)

On an anonymous early 17th c. letter (transcribed) which describes the activities of the Sienese Accademia de' Filomati during Carnival 1604. The core of this letter is devoted to the preparation and progress of a banquet held 26 Feb 1604 on the theme of Sparta. Includes descriptions of some of the pictures and emblems displayed.
