Looks at problems in the application of the ICONCLASS system that arise in classifying the lunette fresco of God the Father by Giovanni di Francesco at the Ospedale degli Innocenti, Florence, and 53 other examples of Florentine paintings of the 14th-16th cs. showing God the Father in the act of blessing.
