Abstract (en)

Explores issues of the relationship of the various art forms to the development of new artistic technologies and media. Begins with a discussion of the historical background of the "struggle" between the genres in the paragone of the Renaissance, especially in the art theoretical writings of Leonardo. Discusses the end of this conflict in art of the 20th c.; and theoretical aspects of the new media and techniques. Concludes with a look at consequences of the "struggle" in the context of the evolution of new media.
