Study of donors and their influence on religious art in the late Gothic period, taking as an example paintings, sculptures, liturgical objects and church furnishings created ca. 1500 for S. Lorenz, Nuremberg. Investigates the significance of coats of arms, inscriptions, and donors' portraits. Examines the motivations of donors, and explores legal, social, and economic as well as liturgical considerations in the commissioning and planning of works of art.
