Retrospective exhibition presents over 80 paintings and drawings, 1937-1990, and a bronze sculpture (1990) by the Chilean painter. Catalogue contains an essay by Schmied, as well as numerous reprinted essays and texts, including some by Matta himself and some by his artist friends and contemporaries--René Magritte, Max Ernst, André Breton, Marcel Duchamp, Henri Michaux.
