Includes a chronology based on excerpts from Hesse's diaries, along with essays by Linda Norden on Hesse's early career in New York; Maria Kreutzer on her work in Germany in the mid-1960s; Robert Storr on Hesse's relation to important artistic concerns in the United States during the '60s; Anna Chave on her mature work in light of contemporary feminist theory on authorship and subjectivity; and Maurice Berger on Hesse's approach to sculpture.
