Looks at open-air oil sketching in Scandinavia before plein-air painting was established officially in France in the middle of the 19th c. Presents Danish painters Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg and Christen Købke, Norwegian Johan Christian Dahl, and Swedes Gustaf Söderberg and Gustaf Wilhelm Palm.
