Identifies Carolingian, Ottonian, southern French, and Spanish influences on the illuminations of the late 9th-early 12th c. manuscripts from the scriptorium of S. Martial, Limoges. (These manuscripts are now in the Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, the Mairie de Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, and the Bibliothèque Mazarine, Paris.) Also discusses the influence of Adémar de Chabannes on the illuminations of the 11th c. manuscripts.
