Abstract (en)

States: "I want to examine how in the early part of this century Paris produced an iconography that was abundant, systematic, and cheap, and further offered its citizens (and proffered to the world) a representation of itself that served to legitimate in a euphoric mode its nationalistic and imperialistic ambitions." Much of the postcard imagery is photographic.
