Study of the tomb by Antonio Pollaiuolo, completed 1498 (Rome, S. Peter's), its original appearance and location in the crossing of S. Peter's, and its iconography; examines the symbolism of its dependence on the Angevin tradition of the two-body monument, and the significance of the Holy Lance, in relation to the linked issues of papal primacy and the Turkish threat.
