Studies the problem of the influence of Ribera in the chronology of Luca Giordano's oeuvre, in light of evidence from the biographies by F.S. Baldinucci and De Dominici, an anonymous Relazione della vita di Luca Giordano pittore ..., 1681 (transcribed in the appendix), and recently published documents. Focuses on his activity in Venice in 1665, and seeks to explain the Riberesque style he adopted not only for the works commissioned by his host, Agostino Fonseca, but also for those intended for public display.
