Abstract (en)

Discusses recent innovative approaches to architectural renovation in Hungary, involving the creation of new roofs, facades, and additions, which are seen as transforming the uniform concrete block buildings associated with the socialist past. Notes the influence of architect Imre Makovecz, founder of the organic architecture movement in Hungary, and cites two recent projects by students of Makovecz, Ferenc Salamin and Dezsö Ekler, which exemplify this new practice.
