Summary of the author's paper on the celebration of birthdays, marriages, and coronations of royalty in the 18th c. Observes that it was necessary not only to hold popular feasts in honor of such events but also to publicize them, which led to panegyrics, written accounts, and other literature that provides information about the program of a given event and its political objectives.
