Draws attention to the pernicious effect on women students of the new traditionalism, reinforced by the perpetuation of traditional, male-dominated images of women in recent films and television programs, and in art historical texts published or reissued in the 1980s and 90s that fail to present the work of women artists or art that reflects women's experience. Argues that it is necessary to move beyond conventional art history texts in order to introduce young women to themselves.
