Discusses one of three 17th c. paintings on wood set into the panelling of the Mayor's Parlour of the Guildhall at Newcastle upon Tyne as evidence for the Guildhall's appearance when rebuilt by Robert Trollope 1655-1659. Argues that the topographical painting and its companions date from the time of Trollope.
