Abstract (en)
Proposes that it was Bruni, a leader in promulgating the ideal of the citizen-soldier on the model of the Greek citizen-hero, who was responsible for the content of the lost inscription of the marble David (Florence, Bargello) and perhaps also for the transformation of Donatello's young prophet into a victorious hero, when the statue was moved from the cathedral to the Palazzo della Signoria (Florence) in 1416.
