Draws attention to the rise in the economic and social status of artists in Great Britain in the later Victorian period and discusses the studio houses that they built. Focuses on the imagery used in prints and photographs to illustrate these residences in contemporary periodicals, to popularize them as attractions for the public, and to promote the artists who created them.
