Abstract
(en)
Reconstructs and studies Brumidi's iconographic program for the frieze (subjects from American history) and canopy of the dome (allegories and mythological subjects related to American values and achievements); notes that the fresco decorations were conceived as a symbol of the Union at the height of the Civil War.
