Abstract (en)

Studies de Loutherbourg's 1792 painting The Destruction of Pharaoh's Army, acquired by the Art Institute of Chicago in 1991. The painting was commissioned by Thomas Macklin for his Holy Bible project, being one of 71 paintings reproduced in engraving to illustrate the six-volume Bible he published in 1800.
