Abstract (en)

Assesses the limited treatment of eastern German and eastern European art at the 28th International Congress of the History of Art, held in Berlin in July 1992, and the relatively minor presence and contribution of art historians from those areas. Notes the general neglect of 20th c., especially post-war, artistic trends, and recommends further study of the phenomena of influence and exchange between eastern and western Europe.
