Abstract (en)
Suggests that it was the discovery of the New World and descriptions of the new flora and fauna that explorers found there that caused Dürer's concentration on those subjects in works dated 1500-1503; and argues that the parrot and the primeval forest in the engraving of Adam and Eve (1504) signify the location of the Garden of Eden in the New World.
