- Interprets the iconography of the triumphal arch made for the coronation of James I, July 1603, by the Netherlandish immigrant merchants living in London, based on the Beschryvinghe vande herlycke Arcus Triumphal...ter...eeren...Coninck Iacobo (Description of the triumphal arch honoring King James), published 1604-1605. The book contains an ornamental title-page and two prints, showing the front and back of the arch, which was designed by Conrad Jansen. The prints may be by the Flemish printmaker Michael Droeshout. Explains the commercial and political role of Netherlanders in London at the time, and relates this to the symbolic language of the arch.
