Catalogues plaster casts in the Gipsoteca dell'Istituto d'Arte, Florence, taken after late antique and medieval sculpture. Includes essays by Massimo Becattini on Sir John Soanes's collection of plaster casts; Luisella Bernardini on sculpture by students of the Instituto D'Arte di Firenze, 1934-1945; Mila Mastrorocco on 19th-20th c. taste for Gothic art and its reflection in plaster casts and other media; and Fema Monaci Scaramucci on the plaster casts in the Gipsoteca made after Romanesque sculpture. Appendix: inventories and other documents, 1882-1898.
