On the Danish painter Jens Juel, one of the first portrait painters actually born in Denmark. Educated in Hamburg and Copenhagen, Juel studied in Europe 1772-1780 before settling in Copenhagen as a painter to the court and high society. This publication is mainly a fully-illustrated catalogue of 884 paintings and pastels--catalogue in v. 1, plates in v. 2.
