Abstract (en)

Author notes that the painter's career and critical fortunes have been plagued over several centuries by mistaken identity, a fabricated artistic twin and a totally miscontrued chronology. Townsend here aims to rectify this by weighing the earliest literary accounts of his life against the subsequent accretions that have obscured the facts. Contends there is absolutely no evidence that Keirincx visited England other than from 1639 until late 1640.
