In relation to the exchange between C.I.M. Williams and Carlo Knight (Burlington magazine, 1987, 129, p. 457-458; and 1993, 135, p. 536-538) about Tito Lusieri's work for William Hamilton, draws attention to a passage in Tischbein's memoirs describing the Hamilton collection in Palazzo Sessa, Naples; suggests that it is likely that Hamilton wanted a record of his Gabinetto but surprising that he should have turned to the topographer Lusieri for it.
