Studies the collection of portraits of artists that belonged to the English collector Charles Rogers in the 18th c., and shows that these were originally collected in Florence by Francesco Maria Niccolò Gabburri, who was also the author of the unpublished Vite dei pittori. Contains appendices which catalogue drawings from the Gabburri/Rogers series, an annotated extract from the 1799 Rogers sale catalogue (the most complete record of the self-portraits section of the series), and extracts from Gabburri's Vite describing portraits not already mentioned in other sources.
