On Talbot's effort to make his invention of negative-positive paper photography known and to illustrate its potential utility to botanists by sending 36 photogenic drawings to the Bolognese botanist Antonio Bertoloni in 1839 and 1840; includes a checklist of the photographs in the Bertoloni album (New York, Metropolitan Museum).
