Abstract (en)
Author states: "New evidence shows that Hartley...was profoundly involved with photography in his creative process. Important documentation of Hartley's involvement with photography is in the Beinecke Library [New Haven] and includes numerous photographs that Hartley collected as well as correspondence with well-known photographers [especially Alfred Stieglitz and Paul Strand] and their families. Even more significant, the Yale material shows that Hartley took photographs with his own camera".
