Abstract (en)
Critique of Panofsky's iconology. Argues that it operates in the context of a correspondence theory of truth that claims access to historical fact and promotes the fiction that its conclusions are unmediated and non-ideological. Calls for a history of art that recognizes that all art historical writings is socially constructed and thus politically charged.
