Establishes that by the 12th c. anatomists located the brain's activity in the meninges, and in this light interprets two Medieval diagrams of the brain (Oxford, Bodleian Library, MS Ashmole 399, fol. 22v, 13th c.; and Cambridge, Gonville and Caius College, MS 190/223, fol. 6r, 12th c.).
