Abstract (en)
Identifies as an important source for Masaccio's fresco in the Brancacci Chapel, S. Maria del Carmine, Florence the bronze relief of S. John Baptizing the Multitude by Andrea Pisano (Florence, baptistry, south portal). Shows that the Vita of John the Baptist, by Fra Domenico Cavalca, strongly influenced Pisano's representation of the baptism ritual, and in turn Masaccio's as well.
