Abstract (en)
Considers the original location of the two sarcophagi in context of the architectural history of the cathedral of Cefalù in the 12th c., and submits that their role, other than that they were made to contain the earthly remains of the king, and probably his second wife, was as reliquary-sarcophagi, since bodies of kings were considered to be both divine and human at the same time (sarcophagi now in Palermo Cathedral).
