Describes an architectural drawing (Berlin, Berlin Museum), showing von Gontard's project for one of the two Gendarmenmarkt (now Platz der Akademie) towers, 1780. Discusses sources for the design, and notes that the subsequent structural weakness of the tower resulted not from von Gontard's design but rather from faulty building practices.
